Dairy-Free, Egg-Free

We used a PlanetBox container here, one of a few that are part of our everyday setup, because it's durable, travels well, and holds up to daily use at home and on the road.

Want to see the PlanetBox containers we’re using? You can find them here.

This PlanetBox combination is built around protein & fiber, while keeping things simple. The modular silicone inserts allow for tighter compartmentalizing, which keeps textures intact and prevents flavor crossover between sweet and savory items. It’s practical, structured, and designed to hold up in any backpack, anywhere.

Almond Flour Crackers (Rosemary & Sea Salt)

Almond flour contributes healthy fats, fiber and a moderate amount of protein, which slows digestion compared to refined-grain crackers. The rosemary and sea salt add flavor without needing dips, and the structure holds up well in a packed lunch.

Allergen-Friendly Chocolate-Covered Pretzels

This is the intentional sweet component. The allergen-friendly formulation avoids the major top allergens while still delivering a sweet-salty contrast.

Including a planned treat helps prevent overcompensation later in the day!

Red Grapes

Grapes provide hydration, natural sugars for quick energy, vitamin C, and polyphenols. They balance the saltier components and require no cutting or peeling, which makes them efficient for busy mornings. To read further about the importance of polyphenols in shaping our gut health, visit our scientific nutrition article here.

Homemade Blueberry–Poppy Seed Muffin

This muffin is built with whole ingredients that contribute fiber, antioxidants (from blueberries), healthy fats, and plant-based protein. It’s designed to provide sustained energy rather than functioning as a simple refined-carb snack. The poppy seeds add texture along with small amounts of minerals like calcium and iron.

Optional Swap: Large Sourdough Pretzel

If baking isn’t happening that week, a large sourdough pretzel works as a practical store-bought alternative that still feels substantial and satisfying.

Roasted & Salted Edamame

This is the protein anchor of the box. Edamame delivers complete plant protein along with fiber and iron, which supports satiety and steady energy levels through the school day, on a break when hiking or on long travel days. The roasted texture makes it crunchy and snackable, so it works cold and requires no prep beyond pouring.
