Hi and Welcome to Four Sprouts!
I'm Dana, a mom of four, scientist, traveler, and a vegan recipe developer who loves exploring both kitchens and new places. Cooking and baking have always been a creative outlet and a way to care for my family of six, whether we’re at home or on the road. Traveling has shaped the way I cook — I look for meals that are simple, nourishing, and easy to pack or prepare in small spaces. Sharing plant-based recipes is part of that, because I believe food connects us wherever we are. For me, it’s not just about what’s on the table, but also about the values behind it: kindness, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the natural world we explore together.

To develop this website, my husband and I have been breaking sweat, since it takes effort, creativity and more than anything - time, which is such an expensive "ingredient"! After 14 years in the academia, equipped with my PhD (including postdoc training) in Immunology, I can safely say I am just as fascinated by food as I am with science, and there is plenty of room for creativity in both. Food affects our gut health, and as science led us to learn - our gut health affects us in literally every aspect. I put a lot of thought into our daily meals at home, our meals on the road when we travel and need solutions for tiny kitchens, and into our kids' lunchboxes, when we send them off to school and we know what we pack is all they have until so much later. Nutrition is tricky, and vegan nutrition takes some homework, but its well worth it, for so many reasons..
Our family life is busy, a little messy, and full of energy — and so is my kitchen!
Some days it’s a simple meal, other days it’s an ambitious bake, but always made with love and curiosity.
This space is an open door into our everyday life and adventures on the road, and the small, beautiful moments in between. Check out our family's RV travel adventures as inspiration for your next trip!
Whether you're here looking for inspiration, encouragement, or just something new to try, I hope you find a little spark of joy in these pages.
I'm so glad you're here!
On my vegan food section I am sharing a variety of cooking inspirations and how to experience cooking outdoors, as part of our family camping and road trips adventures. I absolutely love developing and exploring vegan desserts, of which you'll find a nice collection of options, alongside great vegan main dishes, salads and appetizers, breakfasts, soups and more.
Why Vegan?
I still remember the moment everything came into focus: I was struck by a simple truth—that caring for animals feels as instinctive as caring for people. I realized that extending kindness beyond my immediate circle was an invitation to live more fully in tune with my own values. It wasn’t a choice born of obligation but of connection.
Around the same time, I began to notice subtle changes in my own well-being. Mornings felt lighter, my energy was more consistent, and meals left me feeling nourished rather than heavy. Discovering the vibrant textures and flavors of plant-centered cooking showed me how deliciously varied—and healthful—a diet can be when it leans into plant-based whole foods.
Embracing a vegan lifestyle felt like a natural alignment of two simple desires: to live with compassion and to thrive in health.
